The Poor Boy

My son is now 4.

This past weekend, he was in the bathroom, grunting and straining with much ado. Finally I hear the following:

"Fine, go back in."

I heard the toilet flush and the running water of washing hands. A minute later he emerged from the bathroom, looking tired and defeated.

Things that have helped us:
LOTS OF WATER
grape juice
dried fruit
veggies
Miralax (boychik will be getting a daily dose of this FOREVER)
and if all else fails, senna (this really needs to be added to chocolate milk)

We're constantly reminding him to eat plenty of fruit. I have some fruit flavored fiber tablets to give him when he's being particularly reluctant. I've also found inulin can disappear into most foods undetected. I have to warn Whuffle when I bake with it though, as she considers anything made with extra fiber to be booby-trapped.
